Build the Future of Hawaii—One Student at a Time

When you donate to BIA Hawaii’s education programs, you're not just funding classes—you’re changing lives, strengthening communities, and building the next generation of Hawaii’s construction workforce.

Each year, BIA Hawaii offers more than 60 courses in safety, project management, estimating, green building, leadership, and compliance—many of which are essential for maintaining certifications and ensuring the well-being of workers across the state. These programs help current professionals stay sharp and allow newcomers to the industry gain a strong, safe start.

One of our most transformative programs is the Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training (PACT) program, made possible through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) in partnership with Work Hawaii. Offered at no cost to participants, PACT delivers essential skills training, nationally recognized certifications, and hands-on experience in just six weeks.

Aleka Lyman is one of those success stories.
A single mother with a passion for fixing things and helping others, Aleka entered the PACT program unsure of what came next in her life. By the end of the six-week training, she had earned multiple certifications—including OSHA-30 and CPR/First Aid—and found a new sense of confidence. Today, Aleka is the proud sole proprietor of her own handyman business, serving local families, kÅ«puna, and small businesses with affordable, high-quality services.

She credits the PACT program with giving her not only the knowledge and skills—but also the belief—that she could succeed.

Your support makes stories like Aleka’s possible.

Donations help us maintain and expand free, grant-funded training programs, subsidize vital certifications, and ensure that education remains accessible to everyone, regardless of background or income. Whether it's a young adult looking to start a new path, a veteran reentering the workforce, or someone like Aleka launching a business, your contribution empowers them to thrive.
