Trenching and excavation work presents serious hazards that can result in injury or fatality if not properly managed. This awareness-level course provides participants with an introduction to the key risks associated with excavation activities and outlines basic control measures to promote a safer work environment.
Topics include:
- Common trench and excavation hazards
- Overview of OSHA standards and requirements
- Basic soil classification and protective systems
- Identifying underground utilities and environmental risks
- General responsibilities of a “competent person”
This course is recommended for individuals involved in or working near excavation operations, including those in construction, utility installation, roadwork, landscaping, environmental services, and emergency response.
Please Note:
This course is for awareness training only. It does not provide a “competent person” designation. It is intended as a foundational course to support further training and qualifications in trench and excavation safety.
