Course Overview
This advanced training program is specifically designed to prepare individuals to function as a designated "Competent Person" as defined by OSHA and HIOSH regulations. Under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.32(f), a competent person is one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them. This course provides participants with the knowledge, authority, and practical skill set required to manage fall protection programs, conduct safety inspections, and supervise personnel working at heights in full compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M, OSHA 1910, and USACE EM 385-1-1.

System Selection & Engineering Calculations: Comprehensive evaluation of personal fall arrest systems (PFAS), anchoring strengths, horizontal lifelines, and precise free-fall/clearance distance calculations.

Equipment Inspection & Maintenance: Master-level training on performing and documenting mandatory pre-use and periodic inspections of harnesses, lanyards, anchors, and connecting hardware.

Fall Rescue & Post-Fall Planning: Developing, implementing, and managing an effective, prompt written fall rescue plan to mitigate suspension trauma.

Workplace Training Requirements: Understanding how to monitor and guide authorized users on the jobsite.
